Summary: "Get an older version instead"

The English language changes over time. Were that to be allowed in the English of Law and especially with legal terms would be equivalent to changing the Law. That must never be. These modern Editors have taken unjustifiable liberties with the definitions of some words in these newer version of Black's. For example, historically a driver is defined, in older Black's and others, as "One employed in conducting..." This version defines as driver as "A person who steers and propels a vehicle." While this later definition may be turn in street English it was never the intent or meaning in Legal English. To use this newer definition would abridge the unalienable rights of the individual. This is only one example and it alone is really disgusting. Keep or look for an older edition Law Dictionary (6th or older).

Summary: "Book: shipping"

The book was in excellent condition. It shouldn't have been. The packaging was open and the receipt was missing. Good product. Poor packaging and my receipt is who knows where?

Summary: "My Deluxe is no the-lucks"

I order a Deluxe from a Market Place Seller and received a standard edition. The Deluxe has a thumb index and comes in a hard shell slipcase which protects the book. The seller I purchased from sent a nnth edition book that had neither; not even a dust jacket and they advertised it as the deluxe and showed the picture of the Deluxe which would be obviously different from the standard, especially noticable by a librarian and book seller. I find it hard to believe it was an accident. The book itself was in good condition, though they were too busy to remove their stickers and labels. They were willing to refund the price and shipping but expected me to send a $100.00 book through the mail without delivery confirmation which I forgot to request in my email to them; but I thought that if they honest they would have offered to pay for the confirmation since that's how they sent it to me. If you are looking for a good law dictionary, this is the one; the hard back ninth.

Summary: "Review of 9th Ed. Black's Law Dictionary"

I do a lot of legal translations from Norwegian to English. I find Black's an invaluable tool with which to work, and which gives me an accurate description of legal concepts and terms.
I have worked with Black's for a good number of years, and would not be without the Dictionary in my extensive library.

Thank you for carrying Black's, since my usual bookshop in Norway could not find it on their lists.
